Hello Group! Though we just finished our class a few minutes ago, I thought I would log on and write a quick post! I have really been procrastinating these last couple of weeks in getting thoughts posted, so I am recommitting to doing better ;)!
This evenings class was great! We had great discussion and group participation. Everyone seems to really be digging into and exploring how, what and why character qualities bring us closer to God! I believe that we are on the brink of growing closer than we ever expected with the discussion we had this evening regarding fasting!
I really encourage us to all think of a way, date and/or time that would be feasible and work to make a group fast come together. Maybe we could have a lock-in of sorts and do an all-nighter, finish up by joining Kris for 5:00 am prayer group and then heading for breakfast! Jenn, we can even have beans on the menu! :D Just a thought. Let's see what we can come up with and hopefully Deb can give us some spiritual guidance about preparing for and going through a fast.
Keep up the good work! I really appreciate everyone coming to class prepared and ready to discuss! I hope everyone is enjoying the group as much as I am. It definitely filled my "gas tank" up and I am now ready to conquer the week!
For HIM!

ReplyDeleteHere are some links which I found helpful. I'll be happy to help make this happen.
Everyone needs to check out this website! It was very helpful. Thanks Deb!
ReplyDeleteI am posting this for Kris. She emailed me before heading off to her walk. She also told me that she asked Pastor Dave what his take on fasting was. He told her that prayer and fasting are like air and water for a Christian. We need them to survive in our walk with HIM. (I was paraphrasing here so don't tell Pastor Dave it was a quote! ;) )
ReplyDeleteChrista, Ok, I registered on the blog but now confused where to post my comments. Stepped out of my box and still unsure. Anyway, I think what we talked about would be great. Fasting on a Friday to Sat. morning. I was thinking maybe Good Friday might be a good time with Easter that weekend. The only thing would be if people go out of town. This would give us time to pray about it, and figure out exactly what we should be drinking and things we can and can't do. Maybe also set up prayer times on the Friday throughout the day to meet. I was just brainstorming. Take it to the group and see what they are thinking. Thanks Kris
